Maple Flooring

Alabama · Florida · Georgia · Louisiana · Mississippi · Tennessee · Texas

WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU:

The design and construction of a sport floor is a combination of science and art. The maple you see on top must be nailed in place, sanded and sealed and then painted with the myriad of lines, graphics, mascots and stains you see on today’s televised basketball games. Covington understands what is necessary to produce a floor that not only looks great on camera, but also improves performance and enhances endurance. Every Covington installation is engineered to deliver comfort and safety and to improve sport performance. All floor options are not the same so taking a second look is important. Give your champion athletes the safety and protection they deserve. Contact Covington today to talk to an expert who can help you find it. Champions Choose Covington.

Flooring Options We Provide:

The Arena Gym

This where the game is played, win or lose. The local community fills the bleachers and the cheers and jeers of the hometown crowd echo through the walls of the facility. This is where the championship trophy is presented.. This is where you “gild the lily”. Research shows that 80% of the local community will enter the competition gymnasium and never set foot in the remainder of the school. This is where the Champion is crowned…. and Champions call Covington. Allow us the opportunity to make your gym the talk of the town. It’s our job. It’s what we do and what we have been doing for nearly four decades.

Auxiliary Gyms

Sometimes called the “Practice Gym” and most times used by a wide variety of athletes and students, the auxiliary gym participants deserve the best floor you can afford. Why? Because long practices, create fatigue and fatigue contributes to the potential for injury. The hardwood floors in the auxiliary gym can mirror the look of the competition gym but more times than not, also provide the proper surface for sport and recreational activities like volleyball, pickleball, badminton, cheerleader practice, dance teams rehearsals and physical education drills. Covington offers numerous solutions for the auxiliary gym. Call us today to discuss your needs and budget and allow us to use our expertise in making an informed decision for this important area of the athletic facility.

Racquetball and Squash Courts

Covington installs maple surfaces for handball, racquetball and squash and can provide guidance for making the best decision for these highly-specialized floor installations.

Classic Dance and Fitness Flooring

Most dance floors are comprised of two components: the floor surface and a resilient, shock-absorbing subfloor system – commonly referred to as a “sprung floor”. The flooring surface provides the appropriate level of friction for the style of dance being performed. The subfloor system provides the “spring” to help protect dancer’s joints and muscles and to mitigate fatigue-related injury. Both components are necessary to ensure a healthy, safe environment.

Covington can customize the dance space for various activities by the use of different surfaces and subfloor designs. Some instructors prefer a “Marley” surface while other dance disciplines prefer the performance and feel of maple hardwood. Call Covington for details and an estimate for your rehearsal studio, fitness center or performance facility.

Facility Renovation Flooring

In addition to our work in new construction projects throughout the southeast, Covington’s 40 year history in the sport floor market allows us to know and understand the intricacies of removing and installing existing gym floors scheduled for replacement. Covington will assist in the budgeting and design of today’s latest sport floor trends. And while sometimes overlooked by inexperienced contractors, floor demolition and disposal, existing telescopic seating and adjustments to existing gym equipment are all part of the renovation process and requires attention to detail. And attention to detail is why Champions call Covington.
