Flooring Options We Provide:
Recoating Services
For best performance a maple sports floor should be periodically recoated with the same high-gloss, polyurethane coating initially used on a new floor. These durable coatings not only restore the glossy appearance desired for the facility but also restore the delicate balance of slide vs. traction so important for sport and recreational play. Unless additional court line and graphics are applied with the maintenance coating, the work can typically be performed in one day per gym and requires another 3-4 days for curing before activity can resume. Cost are based on gym size and travel time. Covington offers a no-obligation estimate following our inspection and measurement of the floor.
Refinishing Services
Even a well maintained sports floor will require complete removal of the old paints and maintenance coating build-up to restore the like-new appearance of a maple floor. This process is typically performed every 12-15 years on average and requires the set-up of special drum sanding equipment in the gym. New court lines, school mascots, graphics and accent areas can be added at this time and provide a complete new “look” to the floor once completed. Averaging two weeks of more to perform along with an additional week to ten days for cure-out, this procedure is best done during summer break or extended facility down-time. Covington offers a no-obligation estimate following our inspection, consultation and measurement of the floor.
Repair Services
It is not unusual for maple floors to be damaged when subjected to adverse exposure to water. Storm damage, roof leaks, flooding from adjacent areas and other harmful sources. Depend on Covington’s experience over the last forty years to not only identify the problem but to also offer repair services bypassing the need to replace the entire floor. Every project has its own parameters but in most cases the floor can be repaired in a timely manner. When coupled with the sanding and finishing of the entire floor, most repairs can be blended in to better match the original appearance and performance. Covington offers a no-obligation estimate following our inspection, consultation and measurement of the floor.
