Dr. John Ochsner Academy

Covington is proud to be a small part of the new Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy in Jefferson LA. The new school will serve K-6th grades and offer a science, engineering, technology and math curriculum and teaching methods present at other Discovery schools in the successful charter school program.

The gym floor installed by Covington is the popular Robbins Pulastic Classic and is designed to offer comfort, safety and visual stimulation to the students and staff.

In addition to the Pulastic Classic gymnasium floor in the gym, the 90,000-square-foot Dr. John Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy features 25 classrooms along with five learning center rooms, two smaller classrooms for kids with greater learning needs, two science labs and two science classrooms. The school will also features a computer lab, library and a commons area with student dining.

The project is an educational joint venture between Jefferson Parish and Ochsner Health Systems and opened in the fall of 2021. Architect for the new campus is GHC – Grace Hebert Curtis Architects.
